Ok after upgrading my rims on my 2005 mustang v6, im ready to beef up the exhaust system. Ive been looking around the forums and on youtube both but i cannot find an exhaust brand many people can agree on. I want my V6 if possible to sound like the old muscle cars taking off, now grant it is a V6 but i want as beefy and deep sound as possible. I DO NOT WANT A RICER SOUND! If anyone has some suggestions that would be great. Thanks guys!

Keep it stock or get a gt take off system which you can put any gt axle backs on. And even then most say they still sound pretty v6. There is no replacement for displacement. :bigthumbsup

+1 When I bought my Pony, it had a flowmaster on it. The drone was horrible, I put OEM on it, sounds great.
Muckerpuck is right. No matter what you do, it won't sound like an 8. I've listened to many YouTube videos and have concluded they just sound annoying/raspy at much above idle. I've heard a Flowmaster in person and it didn't do much for me ( which is not to say they don't make good stuff ; I put Flowmasters on my '93 5.0 and LOVED it ).
The choice is personal so do what you want ; ask 5 people, you will get 5 different opinions ; for the time being, I'm leaving mine as it came.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. You're never going to sound like a v8, plain and simple. My turbo v6 with straight down pipe sounded awesome from idle to about 2k.....after that, annoying as crap. I know you probably like your car but dont waste your money on trying to make it go fast or sound good.
I'm having the same problem OP. I just can't seem to figure out which mufflers to go with. I'm probably gonna get some Flowmaster Super 44's and 2.5" piping with an X-pipe. Really it's gonna be up to you what you go with.
The best way to get a deeper rumbling sound is with a mid-muffler. That's true for the V8 or V6. I've got glasspacks attached right to my x-pipe it rumbles at idle and sounds pretty good going down the road. I just need to get some pipes fabbed out the back and it should be sweet. It vibrates the cabin on acceleration now, but that's because its open right under the cabin.

my car sounds good for a v6, not loud, just good. 2 1/2" jba stainless h pipe and over axles and gt takeoffs. also have stainless shortys. you cant get the jba h pipe kit anymore, they still sell it but only with a set of jba mufflers ( suppose to sound pretty good) $750. i had a 67stang, heavily built v8, my 4.0 can never be that. i accepted that a long time ago.

with the 4.0, it is what it is. its never gonna be a muscle car, speed or sound. it is a great handling, good looking, ok running ford mustang that you can still like and be proud of :D it gets compliments daily and no one really cares what it has in it.

Enjoy your car for what it is..... If I had a v6, i would celebrate the "less weight" over the front axle, and turn it into a corner carving monster. but i live in northern cali, and the best driving roads are here....period...end of discussion. You can't use BHP when the roads are mega twisty...
put it this way... I do autocross once a month, on a big track..one mile!!! I am a part of the porsche car club of Sacramento (in a mustang.......). My car sounds AMAZING...LOOKS AMAZING...and i'm a VERY VERY QUALIFIED driver...yet my times are in the lower 1/3rd of the pack....it will never be a track machine...but it looks great, slides easy...(slowest way around the track.....and not very cooth)..sounds amazing...all while going slow.. :p
