here's some new pics of what the Mustang could be up against...

What do you think of the Challenger, afteer seeing these pics ?

Bought a Caravan in '95 (when kids were younger) and the transmission blew up after 4 years and only 55K miles. Will NEVER buy another Dodge product again. (Note: During that same stretch, had a Ford Escort that gave me ZERO problems.) Plus...I dunno, but every time I hear the word "Challenger" I immediately think of the space shuttle, and that is not good juju...

Dodge can keep their crappy Challenger for the "challenged" people who like them.

If it had a 6.1 hemi, I bet it wouldn't go for less than 35k. Mustang will still have the reign for bang for the buck in terms of the V8...in my hunble opinion.:wavey

Can they rip off the Mustang look any more? I mean come on...the headlights...the interior...even the Mustang name plate on the floor under the door. Not a bad looking car, but that's probably because of the Mustang highlights. Even if they put freakin' 500HP in that thing, it'll never be as popular or as loved as our Stangs!

The back taillights looked like the engineers didnt feel like designing anymore of the car and just stopped drawing. Looks like crap. Tail lights to me are a huge part of the looks. Glad our "rear-ends" are so hot :laughlitt

Body looks really nice. I need to see the interior more... At first glance, I really do not like it. But the overall shape is great. Much better than the Charger!

The Mustang is safe, I assure you. Others have come and gone and now some are coming back. The Mustang has been here the whole time.

Plus, I think a little competition is good. It keeps everyone on their feet, including the Ford Engineers.

Rip off the Mustang?? The only rip off is that it's also a retro look. Other than that it looks just like a 1970 Challenger. Almost exactly.

...but ONLY the third pic. The rest looks like ass. I dunno. I agree it's not a rip off of the 'stang just because its "retro", what it is a rip off of is the original Challenger. I mean, c'mon! You said it yourself! It looks almost identical. Go for the retro boys, but add some modern in there too!
Course this is not a production model. Have to see what they do to before they release it, if they ever release it.

I like it a lot. The interior seems a little awkward- bare bones dash design, with luxo-racer seats. I'd bet if they do it, it will get the 5.7 Hemi first, and the 6.1 will be a limited thing. If they stay away from their stupid a$$ "displacement on demand" thing, it might be a damn nice car.


would I buy that over a Mustang? no way, but I'd love to test drive one. They'll never get the pure feeling that ford nailed in our ponies.
