Mustang orders held up.

Hi Guys. I have a Mustang GT on order. My car was supposed to be in around the first week of July. I spoke to my salesperson today and he told me the orders are slow. It has been 7 weeks and they havent started building my car yet.
I live in Windsor, Ontario. The plant where they are building the 5.0 engines is about a mile from my house. My salesperson spoke to someone he knows who works at the plant. He was told that they have had a few problems. One was some kind of "spring" that had to be modified or replaced. The other was a problem with engine damage . They are going to use a break in additive from GM. Yes a GM break in additive. My salesman is not very mechanical but the way he described the problem, it sounds like the engines are put together really tight with very little piston to wall clearance. People have been getting their cars and beating on them before proper break in and they have been experiencing some call backs. They think the break in additive will work.
So, I told the salesman that when they take my car to get gas, DO NOT PUSH THe ENGINE. When I get the car, I will put some miles on it BEFORE any WOT attempts. I have built my share of engines, and planned to break it in easy even before receiving this inside info.

Just thought I would share what I heard , Randy

It would be nice if the dealer would give you a call the minute the truck arrives if only so you could sit there and watch your car like a hawk until the keys are in your hands. It would appear that we are in the same predicament going on 7 weeks with no update to our order status. Hang in there; I'm sure the payoff will be worth it in the end.

Well now its hard to believe anything on the boards since theres so many different things being said but if thats what the hold up is about it makes sence at least for some of the holds. Thanks its interesting to say the least. They built a bad ass engine and now it need to be broken in a little different way. We'll see but id be happy if that was the worst of it nice.

im in the same boat except i ordered a v6. no reason for THAT delay
I ordered my baby on June 9th, it was invoiced on my birthday, June 14 and is waiting to ship. It is really odd how some are built and some are waiting. I guess it is just to roll of the dice but these cars, I think, are all coming out of Flat Rock. I will make sure I am easy on this baby too, I want it to last for a long time.
Good luck to everyone out there.... it is a waiting game.
