Hello, I have been getting into cars a lot in the last few months, and started thinking. "Soon when I start driving, I want a to drive a car the will stick out. A car that sounds like a mans car should sound, not like a crappy hybrid Toyota prius sounds. I want a true American car." and a mustang seems to fit that bill.

I don't know much about internals of cars, and not much about mustangs in general. Soon I will be buying a car, and I'm am looking for some advice on the right mustang. My top buget is about 8-10 grand, and a car that will last me quite a while. I love the look of the 2000 - 2005 mustang the best. I'm not looking for a car to out drive a Ferrari, I just want a sexy, loud 'n proud, nice car.

I have a few questions. What is better about a Mustang Cobra over all the other mustangs? Which year from 2000 - 2005 would you suggest would last the longest? How much money would I have to put into a mustang if I got one with atleast 50000 miles on it?

Thanks for the help. Sorry if I'm not making sence. I don't know much about cars.

I will try to answer some of your questions...

the 99-04 is a different body style then the 05-11 you said you like the look of the 00-05 The 99-04 is the new edge body style. The mustang cobra is a amazing car but those cars are still extremely expensive and a 03-04 cobra goes for around 25 grand for a low mileage one. I think your best bet would be to try and find a new edge and put a nice exhaust system on it and it will sound pretty good and when you learn more about your car you can do other mods to it.

Let me know if you have any more questions Im pretty tired so if some parts of my post didn't make since tell me and I will try to explain it better.

go for a 04 cuz its the newest of the 99-04's (great choice by the way) if the car has 50k man its pretty much brand new. its all about how you treat her, keep the oil clean dont romp her to offten and she will last ya quit awile. plus the 40th's have the mach1000's the 460 is more than enoughf for me.

p.s. go for flow 40's and a H pipe the sound is amazing

If you get an offroad X/H pipe. you will need mil eliminators or a sct tuner that will disable the rear 02's. other wise you will have a check engine light if u dont get the one with the cats.

Well your first step is to get the car. Use kbb.com to get a rough idea about values of cars that you look at. The best advice I wish someone would have told me a while ago is that you get what you pay for. You buy a $2k Mustang, you'll get a $2k Mustang. Take your time buying and look for a good deal on a well maintained car.

Before you think about modding, get the car first. I know the first thing I wanted to do was be different from all of the other millions of Mustangs running the roads. Which is why I'm ditching the chokemasters after the gears and speakers go in :yup:.

Thanks guys, I'll do some reading. And why is a mustang cobra so much more expensive?
allot of aftermarket parts but i like to think allot of it is the name.. but 03-04 they are well worth the money the came stock at like 410hp wile our cars make 260 and the mach witch has the 4v makes i think 305 but performance wise and suspention parts are the reason why that are 10-15k more
O AND THE

BLOWER!!!!

Not a bad start, but it looks as if this car has been modded. I say stay away from a modded V8 mustang of any kind cuz you know what people are doing with them....driving hard and having too much fun. Look for a stock one that probably hasnt been driven tooo hard, and one you can customize yourself. Also check youtube for all types of exhaust clips before choosing flows. There are soo many aftermarket exhaust for these cars out there it isnt even funny, and also so many different combos you can do to make yours stand out from the rest.

that mustang you choose is one riced out mussy, but for having a blower and for 6500 with only 27000 miles thats a good price you can always trade body part and get normal doors proballly in just srtait trade.. and ya a "normal mustang" has a v6 you should always go with gt's :bigthumbsup

I'm seeing alot of the mustang GT's are manual. This would be my first car, so I'm not so sure to get the manual version or not. I think it would much more fun, but still not sure.

IMO a manual mustang gt is much more fun to drive, but autos do have advantages...like you cant shift faster than an auto. But it mostly will come down to personal preference. Drive both and see which one you have more fun in.

I recommend looking on craigslist.com Thats where I found my GT for about 3 grand under the book value.

You can find a private seller that would sell the car much cheaper vs going to a dealer. But you gotta be careful on craigslist because a lot of scams are going on too so if you find something you like on craigslist bring a friend or mechanic thats knows a lot about cares to check out the car with you.

Also like others have said, buy the car first (stock if you find one) before you think of upgrading parts and enjoy driving it before the mod bug gets to you because it will sooner or later:kooky:
