My 1991 Mustang lx is stuck in 5th gear.

I was driving on the freeway, then when I was going to get off on the exit it wouldn't get out of 5th gear. My neighbor looked at it and said the clutch is locked up. I don't think so because it does disengage. Any suggestions?

somethings binding...if you're really lucky (it wouldnt have happened:rollgrin:) all kiddin g aside if you remove the shifter you can see if something is jamming up in there or by removingf the tailhuosing you can actually see 5th and the shift fork and check that out.....if your unlucky, you'll be removing the transmission:mad:

I actually found what was wrong. Thanks tho. It was a bolt that screwed all the way in for some reason and didnt let me shift out of 5th gear. I just unscrewed it easy fix.

I have no ideal. I just pulled up my **** boot and there is a ring going around the shifter and there is a bold that goes through the ring. i dont know why it was there. Maybe when I get some time i will post up a pic.
