My Baby Got Pummeled!!!

Ever see a grown man cry???

My lady and I went cruising on Friday afternoon and on a whim we stopped in to see a movie. We are coming out of the movie and as we walk out the sky looks like the gods are ready to throw down. I pull up the weather radar on my phone and my only chance is to try to run east to get away from it. By the time I ran to the car the rain started... We got on a county highway and took off... There is a three mile stretch of road that you can see for a few miles so I put my foot into it hard to try and beat the storm. I got a half mile from home and the hail hit. My hood, roof, and trunk lid got pummeled. I have an appointment with the body shop on Wednesday to get it all fixed but seeing golf balls falling on my baby just about made all the wiring in my head let loose. I know it is just a car and that is why we have insurance but it still crushed me to see all the dents on my baby.

Later folks.....

I know how it feels to only see it coming at the last minute and there is nothing you can do but stand back and hope for the best. Mine got banged up by hail on May 25th and was in the shop for 3 weeks (half of that was the insurance company gave a super low estimate and then wouldn't authorize the repairs).

all told, the total bill was $3,721.57 and my car was in the shop from May 26th-Jun 17th. I tell you it was torture. hopefully the storm didn't hit a ton of cars like it did here, afaik there are still people waiting to get their cars repaired.

shouldve looked for a bridge to hide under
Wish I had something like that. All I had around me was corn fields.
Ouch! That makes my heart hurt...and it's not even mine. Sorry to hear that Elk. Like you said, at least we have insurance. I know it's a pain, and it doesn't help, but it will look brand new again. Hang in there.
I feel for ya Elk . I live in an area that rarely has hail thank God . For you people in hail areas what about carrying a couple of moving blankets in your trunk ? If you're stuck somewhere in the open and hail is ready to come down you could whip those blankets up on top of the car . Better than nothing .

I feel ya. We had the worst hail storm I've ever seen about a month ago. It did over $12,000 in damage to my house and our car was damaged as well. I almost cried. I have this week off, hope to take in it to be repaired. Ours isn't too bad, 2 in the hood, 1 in the decklid, and about 15 in the roof. Guess where the thinnest metal on the car is?

I got one estimate for $6-800 (paintless dent repair), I hope to get a better price so I don't have to turn it in for insurance.

Sorry to hear about that. It sucks that your car got damaged by the hail but the good thing is that it can be repaired and you'll be back to normal before long.
I'm very sorry to hear this.

I have NEVER been caught in a hail storm ... until I got the GT. In the three months I've owned it, I've been through two while stuck in traffic. Thankfully they only produced pea-sized hail and there was no damage, though it's very disconcerting hearing the hail beating on your car with nothing you can do about it. I took out my phone and recorded it both times in case I needed proof for insurance reasons.

Wow that sucks! I'd be crying too.
