So my mustang for some reason last night would not start at all. No power nothing. So today my boyfriend and I decide to take it to the Power Ford Dealership on PCH. We take it to them, tell the problem ask if they can diagonse the problem, which cost $100 and leave. I called at 3:45 and they didn't even have the car looked at. Then, Mike from Power Ford called me back and told me that they could not run any tests because the battery was low, and it was going to cost me $125 for them to put in a new one, in order to run test(if you change the old battery with a new one, how do find out what casued the old one to drain so quickly?). Okay, change the battery. 5:30, Mike calls and says that car is running fine and the headlights won't work, but they are not going to touch them becasue they are aftermarket, but they wanted to keep the car over night on the drawing board to see what was drawing from the battery. Okay fine. About 6:15, we decide to pick up the car. If it's running fine great, we can fix the headlights. My total for this adventure cost $228. Labor and Battery. We go pick up the car pissed that we have to pay the amount when they didn't diagnose anything. It cost $100 for no diagnoses. I pay the bill and get the car. Headlights don't work becasue some DUMB **** knock the connector from the box for the headlights. We fix that, HEADLIGHTS WORK. I get home to check the headlights, the drivers side is not turning on. My boyfriend and I take a look and find out that they CUT OPEN MY LENS OPEN AND THEN MELTED THEM BACK CLOSED, AND, THEY MELTED THE WIRE FOR THE HEADLIGHT. So, now we are wondering why they had to cut open the lens when there is no WIRING in the ******* lens. Now had we left the car overnight and my headlights continued to work then in the morning the service department would find something drawing from the battery, and guess what it would be... THE ******* WIRE THEY MELTED! We are going back tomorrow and it will not be pretty. They will buy me new headlights the exact same ones from the exact same place I BOUGHT them, and they will reimburse me $100 for the non diagonoses that was perfomed on my car.
I will keep you informed on my progress(if any).
P.S. DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENTS ******* SUCK! So do shops, but I haven't really had to deal with one yet, but I am sure they are not far off.
weird that they cut open the lense... I read somewhere that instead of buying headlights with no yellow marker on the side you can cut them open pull the marker out, then you just put some JBweld or something over the cut to seal it back up... I can't find the article now but I would take a close look at them and make sure they're the same ones you had when you took it there... Hope they pay up... Mechanics are always scheming on us normal folk
