My new ram air system

2412 Views 14 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  twst140
i had an idea, so i went for it. i took my factory headlight buckets and turned them into a ram air/heat extractor, then i moved my headlights to the grill. the headlights work great in the grill and the ram air feels really strong at 65mph. tell me what ya'll think. i still have to get everything painted, so it will look a bit different when i'm completely done.

I was looking at getting these as well but then i saw that they arent street legal. How are you going to get around that?

Anyways, other than that, they look amazing! Great Job:bigthumbsup
i made them myself from the original headlilght buckets. this is not the agent 47, it didn't cost me a dime. i used a dremmel to cut them. as far as legal, i used my dremmel to make the fog light housings to accept the headlight bulbs so i still have dims and brights. they work great.

props for making that man i like the ingenuity. might have to clean the filter out more often though...
thanx man, i was kinda nervous when i was doing it. now i'm glad i did.
hmm... what about water getting up in there? I can imagine since CAI's have splash shields might yours want another in case of rain or a car wash blasting water in.
you would think, i have driven it twice in the rain and the filter stays dry. so far it functions like a dream.
So what does it do for performance?
i dunno, i guess its kinda cool....but i cant see removing my headlights for 2 horsepower
at the lower speeds you can barely feel a difference. at 60mph and up, it rocks. i can feel a big inprovement in power. from 60, i can hit 100mph alot faster than i could before. it feels like a good 15-20 hp difference.
put it on a dyno, there is no way you are getting 15-20 hp from that. put it on a dyno with a 60 mph fan in front of it. i bet you see 5 at most
yeah, ok. i would need a wind tunnel. i don't suppose you have one i could use huh?
nice looks good
and nice handy work:bigthumbsup
either way, it still looks awesome and can't wait to see what it looks like all painted. should be real interesting
