Howdy all,

The Mach 460 in my '01 has become possessed of an evil spirit!

As soon as I power on the unit the volume display shoots all the way to the right.

...and the volume is enough to drive me out of the car.


No amount of turning the volume knob to the left has any effect.

Any ideas?

uhm, seriously id say that the knob has just went bad. like the sensor or whatever that knows when you adjust the knob. thats all i can honestly think of. i suggest a new head unit maybe?

I pulled the knob off the shaft and blew the dust out with a can of air that I had handy...

Seems to have done the trick.

My 03 GT used to do something similar to this issue youre having. Except it was ONLY on cold mornings the volume knob decided it wanted to mess with me turning it counter clockwise which should usually lower the volume made it go louder and turning the volume clockwise made it go louder the only way to lower the volume was to EXTREMELY slowly turn the knob.

Idk if this will help you but its worth a shot lol. My problem vanished as mysteriously as it started damn evil spirits...
