I work with this guy and he has a 2000 v6 firebird 5 spd with just a CAI . He keep asking to race me so we set up at the light today after work , we both released pretty even but when i dropped into third around 4.8k rpms i dusted him ! (hope i didnt hurt my engine) But anyway he sayd he shifted too soon but i still beat him :dunce:. His friend wants to race me in a WRX(the beefed up one) now but i told to mess with a Gt instead of my sixer. Just thought id share my first kill .....

RICERS :sterb:
Why does everybody think you are going to hurt the engine by going to redline? I go PAST redline EVERYDAY! I've got 60,000 miles and no trouble.

Unless you've done something to change the lift or duration, you're not going to make any power beyond the redline, anyway. I've seen several dyno sheets, and at 5500 hp/tq drops off.

You usually don't see signs of overrev until 125000 miles or so, unless you punch a rod through the block.

5500 is where I shift.
