My Weekend at the Races...

I am very sad that I did not bring my camera with me:doh: Anyways, I went to the Porsche 250 at Barber Motorsports Park this weekend and they had a car corral. So of course I had to check out the sweet M3's and wide-body 911's along with the Saleen 351...:worship When I saw this huge red 'Stang off in the distance. I walked around it and thought to myself, "this has to be a clone..." But I looked inside and saw that there was no radio or A/C, no rear seats, those EXPENSIVE Cobra-R seats made just for this car. I am assuming this was the real-deal since I cannot see someone buying a Cobra and taking the rear seat, radio, A/C, and buying these $5000 seats just to make a clone. I never got to talk to the owner or anything, it was just parked there with the rest of the 'Stangs locked up while they were out watching the race. Oh, and Roush was there with one of their new '05 Stage 2 Convertibles:happyhapp

The new FR500 race 'Stang didn't do too bad at their race on Saturday. After seeing them come from 26th all the way to first in a matter of a few laps was something to see. But I was very dissapointed to hear what they did to win that race...They used an illegal engine that was discovered post-race and were disqualified:sterb: That really pissed me off. But I had a great time since we knew one of the pit-crew members and got to go anywhere and everywhere and got all the special treatments only because we had a sticker on our car that said we were "Team & Official". I say that my favorite race was the 125cc shifter-karts for the World Karting Association. There had to have been at least 70 of them on the track at once going through the turns, at times, 5 or 6 wide! And the crazy thing is...They were doing their laptimes equal (and a few faster) than the fastest lap-times for the cars in the Porsche 250 itself! The average lap-time for the GTO's, and Porsches, and 'Vette's, and all of that was 1:30...The average for the karts was the same with the fastest being 1:25:shocked: If you have kids and have a race coming up soon near you (or not so near...I drove from Buford, Georgia to Irondale, Alabama for one day of racing...), you should really take them to it. I didn't see one kid there this weekend that was crying or not smiling. They were amazed at how fast these cars can go.

Well that's my weekend at the races, maybe we can get some more people to share their weekend's adventures!
