Need Driveshaft balancer replaced - where to get part?

3300 Views 7 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Driveshaft Shop
The balancer on my 1998 mustang's DS has had the rubber rotted away and was just wandering around the drive shaft so i took it off my car. So now i need to replace this piece but I'm not sure how to go about doing so.

Can i replace just the balancer? or do i need to replace a whole section or the whole driveshaft itself?

If i can replace just the balancer, where do i order the part from?

thanks!! :worship

Also, would not having a ds balancer cause the engine to tilt while accelerating?
tilt as in twist? no.. that would be a failure in your motor mounts.

well its not very dramatic, but the driver-side of the engine lifts up about an inch when accelerating
the amount of lift matters but that sounds normal.. besides how do you see your engine while you're accelerating?

one side rising an inch is normal? well thats good lol.. As far as seeing the engine while accelerating, you don't even wanna know.

Do you, by chance, know anything about the DL balancer?

its supposed to twist a little bit.. dont know how much is too much. i think the "balancer" is more of a dampener. i dont think its necessary to even have

Thats a factory part, now not all the cars needed them so i would suggest just taking it off and seeing if the car has a vibration. the part is actually a casting and comes off quite easy.
