Need help customizing 2000 mustang

Hey guys, still a little new to the forum and just bought my first mustang a couple days ago. Im 20 y/o and a college student (well working my way back in to college) and decided to buy a 2000 mustang 3.8. Yeah I know, its the slow sh**y mustang of the years but I like the body style and the convenience of the mpg and insurance. But besides that, I like the car, but I want to do a few things that'll make it fit me even more. I want to make it look decent and make it slightly faster/quicker if possible. Are there any parts/websites that you guys would recommend? anything from bumpers to a turbo kit even. Ive worked on cars my whole life, just new to mustangs and muscle cars in general. Thanks!!

Congrats on both joining the forum and returning to college man :)

well when I think of a cool 3.8 mustang, this clip comes to mind, I happen to think this is really nice, the mods this guy has done

If you want a "fast" 3.8 then do a cam like i did along with the windstar intake swap, which i dont recommend unless you can find a full kit. Exhaust and CAI are the first things id recommend. They dont make your car faster per say but it does allow your motor to breathe and be more efficient. I had a custom made cat back set up with flowmaster 44s and an X-pipe. I enjoy the tone of it but i honestly would recommend the super 40s over the 44s. I would say to look at different exhaust clips and find a muffler you like but if you want to stay away from ricer status then get a chambered muffler. American muscle, Late Model Restoration, Super Six Motorsports are all aftermarket performance parts dealers which carry v6 parts. Also i think that you should buy a tuner from american muscle. Also on your next reply add a budget then we can see what all you might be able to fit and somewhat prioritize things for you as well. Good luck and welcome to the community.
We need a budget :)...

Tuner, gears, and exhaust are always good upgrades. If you have a manual the very first mod should be a short throw shifter.
Hey guys, thanks for all the warm welcoming and advice already! The budget isn't set in stone, but right now I'm just looking at prices. Cheapest things first, anything from 100-1500 isn't too far fetched. I'm only 20 so my income isn't 60k a year and I'm trying to balance saving up 5 grand for college at the moment, but I'm able to save slowly and buy the smaller cheaper things here and there, leading up to a turbo or super charger in the future. Also ill have my family help me obviously, we all enjoy customizing our cars so they'll be more than willing to throw some money my way. So if you don't mind, I'd appreciate the guesstimate price on what you guys advise. Thanks!! :)

How much work does the windstar intake swap require? and does it increase the hp at all?
Ill say that i felt gains with the swap as well as it increased the top end power. Eventually i will get some dyno runs in and see what my power rating is. The swap is not too demanding but i would not even attempt it unless you can find a whole kit or fabricate your won pieces. Look on ebay and see if you can find someone selling the whole kit, thats what i did for my car. Then you can go to vap auto i believe for an install guide. I have attached a picture of what the finished product will look like atleast.

Thanks! My dyno results might not until after i pay off this ticket i have aquired.. Also look into SuperSixMotorsports if you plan on doing any internal engine swaps.
Ouch, well we've all been there brother, sometimes I think cops smell Mustangs a mile away. I will be driving in a city street where I see someone in a boring ordinary speeding crazy past a parked cop, the officer pulls out but drives side by side with me even though I was not speeding.

they will go out of there way to stop cars they prefer to stop and ignore simple cars
