I have a 66 289 coupe auto, and there is a leak somewhere from the rear end. The car runs fine, but once it has been driven and sits for a while a puddle appears at the rear of the car...any ideas? Not sure if it is tranny or rear end gear, where do i start?
I'd start with trying to find the leak. If you can't tell by the mess most leaks make of the area where they start, the easiest way to do this is to park your car on a flat surface and stick a piece of cardboard (newspaper can work, but it wicks fluids better than cardboard so the spot will be bigger) under it. Check on it frequently and note where the spot starts to form. From that spot it should be a direct line up to where it's leaking.
Post back when ya find it or if this doesn't work. I (or someone else) will help ya work this out.
