As the title states, I'm having turn signal problems. All of my lights work. When I flip the turn lever, nothing happens. No indication they are on from the signal indicators on the dash and no blinkers, front or back. Also, my windshield wipers work, I've heard some of the wiring may be connected? My emergency flashers work. I've checked the fuses, replaced the blinker, and installed a new signal switch. I've tried to go through and read the older posts on this forum before starting a new thread, but I'm at a loss. I'm hoping some of you more experienced folks can throw out some more suggestions.

Thanks guys. Yes, I've replaced the flasher. One appears to power the emergency flasher, the other the blinkers. Just wondering if there's anything else. Also, I've replaced the signal switch.

So you have headlights, tail lights, brake lights, backup lights, liscence plate lights, horn, just no turn signals front or rear.......correct?
You say you have replaced the signal switch, did you use aftermarket or original Ford? The reason for asking is the aftermarket, according to all the forums is hit or miss on getting a good one that works.

One other thing, do you have front parking lights? Do you have a voltmeter, and have you looked at the 66 wiring diagram, as if you replaced the switch I would think you used the wiring diagram for the wiring?

electrical trouble shooting is really easy, getting to the actual wires is the hard part. its as simple as making a circle, start at the fuse block on the fuse that protects the flasher circuit, and go through the circuit from there checking physically and electrically. you will find the problem.

it sounds stupid simple. because it is. dont try and overcomplicate it for yourself by guessing at what is wrong.

sounds like the contacts in switch are not being contacted with when you use the lever. its like a on off switch not all the way down. also check the two connectors under the dash, because the front and back wiring are seperate that leads me to think its in the switch.

Since nothing turn signal related is working but everything else is, there are limited possibilities. The common denominators for your problem is the flasher and the signal switch.

Your are either not supplying power to the switch via the flasher or the switch is bad, not actuating the contacts. To check this remove your signal flasher, turn on ignition switch, check for 12v at either wire terminal removed from the signal flasher. If you find one with 12v, plug that terminal into the signal flasher. Then check for 12v on the other terminal of the signal flasher, if you have 12v there plug in the remaining wire to the flasher. This would mean you have 12 v through the flasher supplying power to the turn signal switch, assuming the wire is not broken before it gets there. If you do not see 12v through the flasher the flasher is bad.

Another possibility is a wiring error, recheck your wiring.

The best possibility is the aftermarket switch, and when you mentioned Scott Drake I cringed. An buddy of mine replaced 3 SD's in under 3 years, just installed a Ford switch, works perfectly now. If you have to replace it go the extra mile and find a Ford switch, it will be more expensive but it will work.

Hey guys, thanks for all your input! Things kinda changed on their own today. Turn signal indicators started working and front blinkers now work. The rear do not. I checked where the orange and green wires connect from the signal switch, they are plugged in correctly. So, stumped again.

The schematic shows, coming off the turn signal switch two wires going through a 2 prong plug to the rear tail lights for turn signals. The wires are orange-blue and green-orange. If this plug is un-plugged you will not be sending power to the rear turn signals. Check and see if while installing the switch that you disconnected the plug.

If the front and indicators started working mysteriously on their own they are likely to mysteriously stop working again. Could still be a bad switch or loose connections.

Thanks Ranger. Yeah, I verified that the orange and green wires are plugged in and connected. Don't really wont to change out the switch...again..but may be the answer. Where can you find a Ford switch?

Check your local Ford dealership and google search. Check the website mustangsteve.com I think Steve would be a good source or can tell you where to find one.
