Need Help with getting input shaft into transmission bellhousing on my 01 Mustang GT!

I changed the clutch on my 2001 Mustang now I have to put the transmission back. What a nightmare, I have been fiddling with it for hours. I had the transmission level on a jack, tried to slip it into its location, just like the manual said. I can’t seem to be able to get the input shaft to go beyond the bell housing. If I can lift the transmission a bit higher it might work. Unfortunately, when I try to lift it up the whole car lifts. I spent hours on this problem and I am can’t seem to get anywhere. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi T-Bone

That sounds as if the clutch plate splines would not be 100 % ligned up with the pilote bearing.
Go to your local parts place and ask them for the lign up tool. This will solve the problem.
If not, you want to rotate the tranny a little (left/right) just to make it easier for the splines to lign up. If you can't slide the tranny all the way to the motor block DO NOT TRY TO TIGHTEN THE BELLHOUSING BOLTS.
This might cause big damage.
