I am right there with you. I would be interested in what you guys recommend. I am in the same situation. What kind of HP can be realized by switching the cams.
Thanks,Carey

I've heard quotes of up to 50 HP on a PI engine, but those numbers came from comp cams, which have a problem with PTV clearance.ctcrane2119 said:I am right there with you. Expect easy 50hp+ from ported heads/cam swap. Not cheap but will work really well. Cams alone, coupled w/some better breathing on the intake side (TB, plenun, K&N or CAI) will return solid gains. Could do cams (Comp 262AHs?) w/o valve springs but not the way I'd do it. The whole head/cam swap bit is bunch of work & money but big gains if have other components to compliment the better breathing. Don't believe it's safe to consider Patriot Performance heads at this time. Look at Fox Lake, Powerheads, Champion Engines in FLA, others. A current MM&FF or 5.0 Mustang article saw a 40hp gain (rear) from a cam swap on mildly modded motor - while I consider that a bit optimistic, it's worth considering; street price on cams around $600 plus gaskets & other nec. parts plus springs if go that way plus labor. My ported heads were $1600 + $550 for Comp Cams + labor (they rock!)Underw0rld said:So far I just have traction mods ie. gears,C/A's,315's,exhaust, springs and CC's(not installed yet),just ordered a tuner today
Also, anybody know where I can pick up a JMOD kit, I've found chat boards discussing them but haven't found a person/buisness/site to buy a kit from

Also, is there any emissions or general A/F problems that might occur with the added air flow. -- I'd be shopping labor prices, can be a lot of $$. No problems that the tuning you would get anyway shouldn't be able to solve. Car will get a bit louder as more air moves through it.
On the Fox lake site, what's the difference between $900 and the $1600 "assembled", stage 2 porting? -- 900 is porting work done on your bare heads, may include valve seat grinding, call them. Have also heard Champion in Florida or Anderson Ford Motorsport do good work.
Thanks for the responses guys, I thought this thread was just going to die off with no response. :drink:
