Hi all. It's hard to find clear advice about where to jack up front and back, in order to place the car on stands, and where to safely locate the stands. Does anyone have any advice and/or pics? Many thanks in advance. (My vehicle is a 76 V8.)

The trunk or hatch will have a decal on or in it showing where to jack the car up properly. The rear should be under the axle and the front is probably the control arms or the K member.

Here's the original decal that would be underneath the trunk or boot as you Aussie boys call it: Jim Osborn Reproductions DF567 Mustang Jack Instructions Trunk Decals 1976 (cjponyparts.com)

The factory jack uses a couple of spots underneath the rocker panel but that's a real bad idea unless you don't mind ricking damage to your car. If you're using a floor jack then use the rear axle or the front control arms.
Btw, do you actually live on the island of Tasmania?

That's how i jack up my car- under the pumpkin in the rear, stands under axle tubes. Front is under middle of K member with stands under the front frame rails.

The mounts for the leaf springs (where they attach to the frame) is a very solid point for jack stands. Just make sure you have everything sitting solidly and you're not setting the car on the tip of one of the bolts where it might slip off if shaken.
