NEW 2013 GT Convertible Tire size question?

1503 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  iceman0021
Hello Everyone!!!

I just bought myself a 2013 GT Convertible Premium...I want to go Staggered with the tires but am wondering what sizes I can fit on it without needing spacers..

Right now I have the stock 18x8in wheels with P235/50R18 tires.

I was looking into getting this setup on AmericanMuscle.com:

(2) 19x8.5 Black AMR Wheels
(2) 19x10 Black AMR Wheels
(2) Mickey Thompson Street Comp 255/40-19
(2) Mickey Thompson Street Comp 285/35-19

I want 19" vs. the 18" I have now.

Just so everyone knows the Stock setup has all-season tires and will be my winter setup and the Staggered setup will only be for the summer.

Thanks for any and every advice and/or opinion you guys give :):):)

they will fit fine. you will have plenty of room to go bigger if you wanted.
19" rims look better on the car. I've got 18"x9" Bullitts with 235/50 ZR18 tires. Wish they were a little bigger.

Iceman - Welcome to AllFordMustang - First and foremost...Great name...You can be my wingman anytime :handshakefacepalm2.gif

All jokes aside congratulations on the Vert, that's hands down the best way to enjoy a mustang..Ripping through the countryside at Mach II with your hair on fire (Alright I'll stop with the Top Gun References)

I'm very partial to the AMR's as I think they're some of the best looking wheels out there and the 19" kit would be perfect if you're looking to shrink that wheel gap along with get a little bit more meat on the tire.

While we're on topic of the tires I'll be straight foward and I don't really like the MT's too much! Being employed here I get to romp on mostly anything I want and I just recently had our video host Justin's car out and the MT's just wouldn't hook. Granted it was a little bit of a colder day I didn't feel that safe running the car through the twisties (I'll add that I've attended Skip Barber, Bondurant, and bertil roos, and I know how to drive)

If you're going to go with any of the setups I highly recommended taking a look at the Staggered Black AMR Nitto Invo Wheel and Tire Kit:

The tires have a completely different compound that's considerably softer - This means that they're going to heat up faster and be that much stickier so when you're rolling into the throttle coming out of a turn they'll keep you on the car where you belong! The only downside in my opinion is that with a softer compound the shelf life goes down with them!

Let me know if you're to have any questions and I'm here to help, oh and

Thanks for the advice everyone!!

And AMAlexLazarus i'll definitely consider the Nitto's, price isn't an issue I just heard from others that MT's were good for the money, but you have way more experience then them lol..

My car is black so i'm looking for a nice mean look with these black wheels and Staggered tire setup...I will post a picture once I put them on!
Are you going mainly for looks, or do you think you might want to take the car on a road course?

For a track with corners, you want wider wheels and tires in the front as well as the back; and 18" wheels are generally the best choice due to weight and tire price and availability. 18x10 wheels should clear on the front as long as the offset is right.

If you just want the look and/or will go to drag strip only then staggered is good.
Thanks for the advice everyone!!

If price isnt an issue, then get Michelin Pilot SuperSports.

Hey Ice -

Anytime! I'm always around to help and I don't get points nor am I commission based here (Put simply we don't push sales) Being in the position I'm in I wont recommend a tire that's going to put you and the vehicle a lane to the left or right running the car through the gears. It's a great car and I have my issues with the suspension but I wont push a tire that I've driven on extensively and left me feeling concerned! Let me know if there's absolutely anything else I can help out with and I'll keep an eye out for your thread!

Happy Modding!

Alex

Did I mention that I love black on black as well?

I am going mainly for looks. If I do bring it to a track it won't be for anything serious just to have fun. So Staggered it is!

Thank you! This is a little bit off from the topic of this thread but I wanted to BAMA tune my car and the only reason why I want is so I do not void the warranty. My question is, should I tune it anyway? I want the most performance out of my car but I do have the 5 Year warrnty on it and don't want to lose out on it.
