Hi new 65 owner here. C code 289. Caspian blue on blue. Couple quick questions. What is the black knob to the lower left of the steering column? Vent or is it a choke? My passenger side front fender is a bit loose. How do I get to the inside of the bolt underneath to tighten it. Thanks.

The left vent assembly is just really a big plastic tube with a flapper door inside. There is an offset rod connected to a cable with that black knob at the other end.
The plastic vent is often good, just dirty. But the round hole in the cowl is often rusted and leaks.
These photos are from my '66. And that is the same vent unit.

OK, you may have got me. It has been about 4 years since I messed with the vent on my '66. So it could well have been metal. I took out the vent on one of my '68s a few months ago and that one seems to be plastic.
