new camshaft, camshaft swap

676 Views 8 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  RLG34750
mmk. ive been thinkin about doin a camshaft swap. i need some help picking the right one though. my car is a 94 5.0.

i want a cam that will give me a lopey, agressive idle, and i want to have a good torque range. right now my car has great low end torque all the way through about 3000 rpm. i would like to keep that but increase the high end torque to around 4500.

i also dont want to ruin my gas mileage too much...if somebody could post a link or something i would appreciate it.

thanks

What heads & intake will be going along with your new cam.....:?:
eventually an entire gt40 setup. id like to find a tubular gt40 intake.

With the GT40 setup you will be just fine with the stock cam and maybe some 1.7 roller rockers.

If you're just looking for a good idle (shouldn't choose a cam based on the sound BTW) then go for the Trick Flow Stage 1 cam. It sounds good and should make decent power for that setup.

well im most concerned with my torque range... a nice sound is just a by-product:bigthumbsup
Work on getting heads and intake before you get a cam. Also to go along with the heads and intake a larger MAF will be helpful and a full exhaust system. Just my .02

Putting a cam in a motor with stock heads & intake.....

Is like pissing in the ocean hoping the tide will rise......

My advice wait until you upgrade the entire top end.....
did that just come to you??? lol i gotcha. maybe i can save up the money and do it all at once.
