New Exhast for Roush!

I have a 98 Roush. I have to replace my exhast and was wondering what I should do. It seems to me that though I have heared that the roush exhast is rather good I can't see how it is helping me with horse power. It has to do a u turn in the mufflers to come out the side. I was thinking of going custom an having bracket welded on with some Borla Ovals to come out the factory roush side ports. Does this sound like a better fix than just getting the roush replacements. I have to be loosing some performance with the way roush has it routed. I could be wrong but I really don't think I am. Any imput on this would be great
