Hi guys

Im new here. I have a 2010 mustang GT with the track pack.

I just got done with my 15000 mile service and the service mgr told me that my Pirelli p zeros are almost worn out and I need to replace them. I have the tire protection/insurance included on my ESP and thought the new tires would be covered under the insurance. Apparently not according to the service mgr. Any of you guys think otherwise?

Anyways, if I am not covered for new tires I would have to buy the new tires myself and was thinking of something which I wouldnt have to replace so often. A friend of mine suggested getting a tire with a hard compound. My car is a daily driver. I donot use it on the track. Only some spirited twisty road fun on the weekend. The size is 19 inch (default for track pack 2010 'stangs). What tires would you recommend which would last longer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

They replaced my brakes when I told them that its squeaking. I just thought they'd do the same with the tires. First experience with ford esp.

Would you recommend some specific 19 inch tire models from falken or cooper? I heard somebody say something about good year eagle f1 tires some time ago.

f1's are good thats what gt500 come with from ford. go to their website and take a look at the tires. i personally very limited amount of tire experience as i don't really burn through them. do you understand tire ratings and all that, tread wear rating and speed ratings all that stuff?

I understand tire ratings. to an extent. I read about the f1 and apparently they have an inordinate amount of tire roar.

What tires are you riding on?

I really dont want to burn through them either. heh..

I just found out the exact rating on my tires. its 19-inch Pirelli P Zero P255/40ZR-19.

I also went to falken and they had an option for the 2010 track pack equipped stang. The tire they recommend is the FK452.

Tires - FK452 - Falken Tire

Has anybody had an experience with these tires?

Try BF Goodrich G-Force T/A KDW 255/40-19 I had these on my car with over 30,000 miles on them and there was still over 50% tread left, sold the tires and rims for a staggered set-up now I run BF Goodrich G-Force Super Sport A/S with over 15,000 miles the tires look like new try discount tire web site it will list a variety of tires and sizes and what their prices are. GOOD LUCK :bigthumbsup

Your tire size is not
P245/45ZR19 98W ?

That is what came on my 2010 GT and if i do a search on their site, states the same thing. Either way, they recommend the FK452.

I see those have a 300 treadwear rating & a AA traction rating which will usually result in about a 30K lifespan if you behave. You will probably find your OEM's are around 200 treadwear/AA traction rated. Ford went for a softer rubber compound for the added traction.
Don't let the AA traction rating throw you here, it is possible to formulate a harder compound and retain the AA rating.

No, I am sure my tire size is what I stated. Does your car have the track pack? Cuz i think the tires are different for a track pack equipped 2010 gt.

I checked the bf goodrich online store and selected my car on their configurator but they said they currently dont have any bf goodrich tires for my car but recommended the michelin pilots... im not getting michelin as theyre too expensive. But I will try and read up on the ones you recommended.

oh, and you are talking about AdvanceTrac w/ ESC as the trackpack>?
No. The trackpack is a "performance" package offered on the 2010 gt. For approx $1500 i get carbon fiber clutch plates, the gt500 front and rear sway bars, stiffer retuned suspension, retuned advancetrac, "performance" brake pads (although i feel the brakes are pretty mediocre, still), and the special summer pirellis tires i was talking about. Also i get the 3.73 axle ratio. I love everything about it except that the pirellis last only for 15000-18000 miles. You can read more about it below:

15,000 miles on tires. Sounds like it's not the tires.

I have the stock P-Zero tires (17") and I have 56K miles. Same with stock brakes too. I'll probably replace both next year. And only 50% of my driving is highway. I'm thinking of sticking with my P-Zero.

I have never thrashed the car enough to make me think that my driving habits are to blame. I have never taken the car to the track or drag strip; Most of those miles were daily driving (70/30 hway/city), and a few trips to vegas and san francisco. I love some stoplight to stoplight action but nothing even approaching the severity hinted at in the infamous camaro/street racing thread. The car is my baby and she is well maintained.

A friend of mine who had an E46 M3 said he used to run Z rated summer tires and those lasted him 10k miles on the road. So I just guessed that 10-15k miles is the life expectancy of a Z rated tire. I may be wrong.

Anyways, I guess I will give the falken fk452 a try. Or the BF goodrich G-force suggested by Al ALUCARD19. Thanks guys.

15k on a 2010?

Did you take a trip around the world? 15k miles on a 2010? My suggeston to you is get another car to put those heavy miles on, your tires should've been good for at least 15k more miles.:)

Im a strong believer in the motorcycle philosophy, where the amount of miles you have on your vehicle shows how much you love it..:laughlitt So congrats on the miles, and its the SMILES PER GALLON!

My buddy has a 2003 Cobra and gets mad at me for driving mine it all the time.

I just went thru the falken configurator. They dont have the ziex in 255/40/19. They only list the fk452 in that config.
