New Heads and Cam

Hey folks!!

I'd like to get some new good heads and a sharp cam for my stock engine. I've read nice articles about Livernois heads and cams, Comp Stage3 Cams etc...my intensions are actually, to get them initially installed on my stock engine and after some more saving get a forged 5.0 or even 5.3 high comp forged stroker, where I could just swap them.
Is it possible, or does it make sense to run such a sharp cam and ported heads on a stock engine?
What heads and cams would you guys actually recommend, what's your experience?? Where could I get a good custom tune (no good dyno available here), bamachips maybe??
Oh yeah by the way...what about the emissions, do they change a lot??

Thanks...

I would talk with the guys at Livernois and see what they say. Do some more research.
for the price of heads and cams it might be worth it to take a look at the mmr website, just a thought
I would stay clear of them.
if you got the dough, DO IT!!! i would lol
Avoid MMR like the plague.

Livernois FTW. Fox Lake also makes good heads.

This has been covered a lot; do a search and you'll find all of your answers.
I already talked with the guys at Livernois, Comp Cams etc...I'm aware about the prices of the parts. I was just wondering if you guys have some more suggestions or already have experience with a similar "project"...just to pick up some ideas and thoughts :bigthumbsup
But thanks anyway...
Why all the hate for MMR? :scratchchin
They might be public enemy #1 on S197Forum. A few broken valves and going .030 over on all their blocks along with not being all that helpful when things go wrong will make people hate them. I Googled them and got plenty of hate threads about them. Yes, it's all hearsay, but it's there and it's enough for me to not use them; at least not for engine parts.

Interesting... Wasn't aware of all the issues.

Remember the problems that Ron had with his motor. Parts missing the rear main oil seal.
Their internet appearance is pretty good and all questions concernig built engines and parts are being answered almost instantly...but I wasn't aware of all these issues either. Sean Hyland might be another option.

No I honestly don't. :scratchchin
Did some more research and it seems to be almost impossible to find a setup for my stock engine, that I could also use on a built stroker later on.
I talked to the guys with comp cams and they suggested the 127200 or 127050 cam with stock heads, no valve springs required with this cam. Probably I could get a custom tune from Bamachips or so. I actually don't know if it's worth to spend the money on a new cam right now, knowing that I want to get a new engine some time...well, just depends on how long this is gonna take ;)
From what I've heared and read so far, it seems that the cam works perfectly with the stock and the ported FRPP heads, generates a little more rough idle and there will be a noticeable hp gain of up to 25rwhp.
What's your experience?

I went through a bunch of magazines and pulled all the test data I could fine for 3v mods. There is some stuff about cams in here you find helpful.

4.56! Are you still in 1st when you cross the 60' beam?:gringreen

Are you going through the traps at the top of 4th?

The 6 speed and that gear are a pretty sweet setup for a NA car. What RPM are you at when doing 75mph on the freeway? I imagine it's fairly reasonable.

Read some more stuff about head/cam setups. Most of the more aggressive cams require tuning. It's hard to find good tuners over here, so is there a way to get custom tunes for cams and heads??
