Welcome to AFM. Yea, finding a stock mustang is like finding a needle in a hay stack. I found my 1988 Mustang GT Convertible and it was all stock except the radio, and the 91 pony rims on it.
Thanks for the welcome!
Here is a picture of it, I had to let the wife drive it....once!
Yes they are beautiful cars, and I don't care what year you find a fox body mustang it is hard to find one that hasn't been touched. On my 1990 mustang, it's a work in progress, but it is getting there, everything from a rusted floorpan to a tatered interior, leather that has disentrgrated, and needs a paint job badly, but it's coming along nicely, still have the front end to get worked out (the steering is outta whack), but I got a plan, get the floor pans done, get the steering fixed, then gut the interior and get it ready for paint inside and out. I got 90% of everything I need to put back in the car, just today I was able to locate the center console armrest on ebay, the only thing I got to buy interior wise is new seat material cause I got new carpet etc. If I didn't like my 1990 so much I would have got rid of it a long time ago, but it has sentimental value and one day it'll be right, since now I got the money to put in it. The 1988 Mustang GT the only problems I had thus far, was the rear main seal went(and while I was gonna replace that I did the clutch too. Good thing cause it was shot). The only other issue was (a valve on the smog pump went bad and I replaced that), the headlights had a mind of their own (needed to replace the headlight switch and the wire harness (cause the harness melted), and when I put new speakers in I had to rewire the speakers with new wires because the speakers kept popping and cutting out with new infinity speakers. To me that is all pretty much minor stuff on a car 20+ years old. Sure I could buy a new mustang, but It wouldnt have the feel of the fox mustangsThanks again for the warm welcomes!
cq90stang: My buddy has an 88 just like yours, beautiful car.
The biggest "mod" gone wrong I have come across on these cars is when a teenager has trashed the car but it has a 800 dollar stereo secured to the dash with self-tapping screws and household wire nuts capped with duct tape on the wiring that is still hanging from under the dash. Thats what I found on the cars that were advertised for 1800 to 2500 and were "mint" according to the ad. I got mine from my boss. It was his wifes car and they have owned it since 1987. He knew i was looking and the other day he just said make me an offer. He must like me more than I think!
