I replaced my intake manifold on my 5.0 L, started the motor and hear what sounds like a bad exhaust leak. The only thing I could think happened was the gaskets between the intake manifold and head slipped and the sound I am hearing is the EGR crossover not sealing between the head and manifold. Does that sound logical because I didn't touch the exhaust or have I been working in the heat to long and going to start seeing little green men.

That would make sense to me. The green men not the EGR. JK. My thoughts are check what you worked on last. Best of luck.

get a piece of vacuum hose and put one end to your ear and the other to the sound to pinpoint where it's coming from.

did you remember the gasket at the EGR valve?
