I've been going on for weeks about weather I should have my old 5.0L block machined and cleaned, then order new pistons and bearing or if I should just order a new short block as it would be cheaper in the long run. any suggestions on what to do I can get a short block off latemodelrestoration.com for about 850 after shipping and taxes

that all depends of what your intention are with regard to primary use & the performance level you are trying to reach.....

I'm not looking to run boost or nitrous. I'm looking to run high 12 of not better. I want to build a nice street car that I can drive on weekends and if I feel like it take it too the track. I've come to the reality that you can't have your cake and eat it too so running 9's or 10's is out of the question because I would still like to drive it on the street but I've been told that 12 is a reasonable number to shoot for.
