1988 Mustang GT 5.0 Saleen Clone
Hey everyone, just joined the forum.
I've been looking at these forums for about a month now to answer
almost every question i've had so far.

I've been wanting a fox body ever since high school and just recently was able to buy one as a 3rd vehicle. Always lived where it snows pretty good in the winter and couldn't justify it before.

Looked online for about 6 months to find a good mustang that wasn't too beat up or built up.
The guy I bought it off of had taken the original GT body kit off of it and replaced it with Saleen body parts including a Saleen wing, upgraded the suspension, and even the stickers to make it look like a true Saleen.
I wasn't crazy about the Saleens (due to the wing) but it has grown on me.

I replaced all the speakers and factory head unit, just changed the valve cover gaskets (extremely difficult for me), pcv valve, pcv grommet, and crank case filter.)
Now I'm trying to learn everything I can about this car because I love it!

CAI if it doesnt already have one, but hearing how much the previous owner put into it with the body im sure it does. My advice to you, run a good mobile 1 oil in it, and IMO unless you have money to play and time to work on her. I wouldnt get any bolt ons, drive it as close to stock as you can. I have a 97 that just keeps right on going no matter what and thats a CAI only car. 100k miles and she runs just fine, still snags a nasty 3rd too. This 98 has a few bolt ons and seems Im playng under the hood every weekend. She is My hobby car though so I dont mind.

Oh yeah and welcome to AFM Forums!

thanks for the advice

Well, the previous owner did put a lot of work into the body, but not much under the hood.
I recently installed a bbk cold air intake. Kind of pricey but looks and sounds good.
One problem though, when I changed the valve cover gaskets I removed the upper intake manifold and the throttle body/ airbox. Replaced some vaccuum hoses and gaskets. When I put it back together I had a lopey idle, especially with the ac on to the point it would stall out. Checked all the vaccuum hoses with no problems. Opened/closed the hood about 50 times and finally a guy at oreillys said it could be the TPS. Replaced it and it ran great. Only bad thing, forgot to fully close the hood one day......whammo, flew up and bent across my roof. Bad day.
Its all good now, new hood and fresh paint and a bruised ego is all I had to suffer for a while.
