Today I installed a SR performance CAI. when i started it up for the first time (2004 v6 with no other mod) she not only was leaking something (from behind the catbacks in the exhaust) that i thought was just water (but a lot), she also was heating up very quickly(the engine meter was almost at halfway) Before i could run almost redline and the engine would still be cool (i don't have to drive very far to work). but now when i only went a mile up the road to a nearby grocery store the engine is still hot to the touch after 2 hours of letting it sit??

any help is appreciated

A CAI will not do this to a car so perhaps something else is wrong...

What liquid was leaking?

Any engine codes?

An engine will always be hot to the touch after a few hours of sitting...its metal.

Any more details you can provide?

What's your coolant level at? Is it low? If it's not, it could be your thermostat is stuck closed. You might need a new one. Also it's probably a good idea to put in new antifreeze while your at it.

And we need to know what exactly is leaking from your cat back.

there is no engine code, and the leaking stopped. i guess it was just some water or something. however whenever i had my old intake on (the stock one) it was never that hot?? The meter reads att a litlle before half (temp wise). Maybe something with my radiator or something?

maybe it is something with the coolant, but it stays at the same level, as if it is warming up. ALSO thank you and to JonR2006 for the helpplus1..gif
Ive had a car with no coolant act as if it was operating properly. It was my "buddies" f150 4.2 and the only issue he had was no hot air. Check out your heater and see how well it operates or just open your radiator cap and take a gander inside once it is cooled down! Dont need you gettin 3rd degree burns just in case there is coolant in the system.

It sounds like your car is running normal. The temp gauge in my 08 GT has always sat at the halfway mark once it's up to operating temperature.
Now, of all the cars I've owned, this one takes the longest to warm up. Yours may have warmed up a little quicker at some time or another but I wouldn't stress over it unless it's over heating or not warming up at all.

Keep us updated and good luck.
