New Tune; New Dyno Numbers; Insane, Sick, Nasty Power.

Last weekend my car was tuned by a guy who flew up from SCT. But some dumba$$ (me) somehow put ungapped (.045"+) HT1 plugs in my new engine. I thought there wasn't anything but HT0 in my garage so I wasn't even paying attention. So my last tune was not as good as it could have been.

So Monday I put proper HT0 plugs, gapped to .034"-.035", in the motor and tonight went in for some tuning. WOW!! My new race tune is awesome. I'd like to point out that the following numbers are at only 12 psi and 5800 RPM. The supercharger can put out 24-25 psi and the engine can rev past 7000 easily so there is a LOT LOT LOT more in the tank.

659 RWHP (+50 HP over my previous dyno runs)
598 ft/lbs torque
(500 ft/lbs @ 2100 RPM!!)
12.0 AFR
19* max timing (in other words, a pump gas tune)

Just because it's fun to say, I'll point out that is about 757 HP at the flywheel.

I also have a street tune that runs around 550 Hp and 520 torque @ 11.3 AFR, that's what I'll be driving with 98% of the time.

I'm tired as he!! and want to go to bed so I'll post the dyno chart tomorrow when I get to work. But from the chart I can tell I will I will easily get to 700 HP just by upping the RPMs to from 5800 to 6500 or so. The HP line just keeps climbing and the torque line never falls off.

In case you don't know, those numbers are SICK!

That is Awesome, wow new plugs gave you that much power.LOL pretty good mod.
lol 500rwtq at 2100rpm just isn't safe man... she's gonna rip when you finish dialing her in. why only 12psi? shouldn't your engine safely handle a lot more than that?

Only 12 psi because it is a brand new engine and I just wanted to make power in steps. This is step one. I have a 16 psi pulley on the shelf ready to go. I just want to run 12 psi for a while and see how that is.

But guys like forensicsteve are pumping 20 psi through the same motor I have.

Trust me, 550 on the street is more than you can really even use. Anything above that is just for the track, IMHO. 550 is insane power that shouldn't be taken lightly.

o ok that makes sense... I thought you had more room to go, but it is smart to take it easy for now. not that 650rwhp is "taking it easy" still insane numbers haha

dude those numbers are intense.. i just want 420-445rwhp and ill be set till my motor is built.. damn 5twenty you r hardcore.
the only thing with forensicsteve is that his 20 psi is on a Turbo and his street tune is like 10 psi i think or maybe 12 i cant remember. I am not sure if pump gas alone would be good for 20 psi.

You would have to swap pulleys at the track. Where 16psi should be good enough to run both on pump and race gas.

That is insane...:happyhapp

5twenty you are my idol:rockwoot:
I am building a small shrine, in my bedroom, to a photo of 5TWENTY's car. My mantra goes "oooOOOWWOOOOOM!"
That's some awesome numbers.

Think I'm going to have to dynotune in Snoqualmie...lol, instead of south Louisiana. Hope to take car back to the track tomorrow...going to be close to 90 degrees with high humidity....yuck. I just looked at your weather...highs in the 50s. That must feel wonderful.

Now get that car to the track and make them ponies work for you.

I'm going to the track tomorrow, only on street tires until I learn to drive this thing.

50 degrees helps the dyno numbers, for sure.

Here's the dyno chart. My guy keeps forgetting to buy a color print cartridge so it's in B&W, but I think you'll get the idea. Bottom line is 659 RWHP and 598 tq @ 12 psi and under 5800 RPM.

Dude, i bet your driveway is going to be covered it piles of smoldering rubber after you drive this car a little more. I can't believe having that much power on the street. My car pulls hard, at least i think it does and you have more than DOUBLE my power and at such low RPM's too. So yea..... awesome 5-20, congrats :D

It's not so much that the new plugs gave me more power. It's that the old, improper, ungapped ones were holding me back.

Jebus, I have no clue what it'd be like to drive that kind of power but I'll have a lot more respect the next time I pull up to a GT500 (got wasted by one the other night I wasn't even trying to race)

EDIT - Changed the first word to "Jebus"... the other one is censored!! :heha:
