New V6 Engages with Corvette! See what happen...

I was on La Grange Road earlier, it's a nice and wide divided 4 lane road where the speed limit is 45-55mph and there's stretches of a mile or 2 without lights, intersections or crosswalks.:bigthumbsup

So I'm in the turn lane when a new stanger (V6) pulls into one lane and then a vette (I'd say early 2000s) pulls into the next lane. I'm watching closely. The guy in the stang looks over and revs it a bit. The dude in the vette revs his (LOUD OMG) and I knew it was on. The arrow comes first and I aint going anywhere:nono: No one behind so no problem.

The light turns green and they hit it. Right off the line the sixer jumped to an early lead. I jumped in behind them. After about 200 feet or so, the vette started coming on and took the lead for a second. Then that sixer got up and WALKED that Vette. I mean, he was GONE. I was trying my hardest to keep up with the stang but it wasn't happening. Kept up with the vette pretty good though.:bigthumbsup

The only thing I can think of is that dude had a nitrous button, or a quiet turbo that didn't kick in until High RPM. Whatever, that fuc**n thing could move. Very cool exhaust sound too. Not like a V8, different. Sounded mean! Hell, it didn't sound mean, it was mean!

Needless to say I was pumped. Love to see a stang dog a vette. All the more sweeter when it's a sixer serving him up.

I figured I'd post up and make you sixer guys proud:bigthumbsup Your cars can be turned into corvette eating monsters!!!

Sorry! Thought I was in the talk section!!!
oh please even a 2000 vette has an LS1 motor and does 0-60 in under 5 seconds
How do we know it was a V6? When I upgrade to a GT, I have every intention of swapping out the emblems for the tribar pony logo and the faux-gas cap for the same logo from the GT. Please share.
Do you guys remeber the first series dodge vipers? Those had 400 bhp (Wiki).

Now that much power is in a mustang, i love it.
On the up side the mustang has a roof, locking doors, side windows and a radio!
Amazing how far we have come.
Its like a supercar that everyone can afford.

Well I guess I dont really KNOW it was a V6. It had the pony emblem but I guess that isn't proof. It could have been swapped with any motor if you want to be technical. I'll ammend it to "car with V6 Pony badges smoked a vette" Happy???

Only report I what I saw. Believe it or not, I don't really care:cooldude::bigthumbsup I'm still trying to figure out why I would make something like that up??? Maybe if I had a 11+ V6, it would kinda make more sense, but I dont. :?:

Maybe the Vette had the infamous "Missed Gear Syndrom" that lots of people claim when they get whooped. I was able to stay a few car lengths behind the vette,. The sixer badged mystery stang had at least 8-10(again total guess) and was still pulling.

And one last thing, I'm not a vette guy so the early 2000s is a guess. It didn't look new that's for sure. I'll try to find a pic and post it. :bigthumbsup

He wasn't coming close to that spinning the tires the way he did:nono:. Not even close:bigthumbsup The stang had just about zero spin. And I don't care if he had an LS1-million, he got slapped down I saw it.:yup:
Race

Get a grip guys, I drive both. I love the Mustang V6, it is a blast, but it ain't no vette. Not in that league without a turbo or supercharger.

That's all fine and dandy and all, except that this one dogged the vette!!!!!!

I will say the vette in your pic is newer looking than the one that I saw!

BTW Both cars in the same color? Come on now, a little variety would be nice. :gringreen

Wow beautiful cars, man! (Nice little fishing boat too :-D). Anyways, I think the spirit of the original posters post was "What could that v6 stang have been packing in order to blow away an early 2000s vette like that?" That question still remains. Perhaps a ProCharge + Nitrous?

Why is the boat in the garage and the Mustang left outside? :nono:
Just did some looking and the base vettes only have 350 HP(345 for some)! You're telling me with some work and FI that a sixer cant beat it? BS!!!!

And it was the 97-04 model. Could have been any of those model years!!!

And you're right mimicx10 That was the point. But I kinda figured the Vette lovers would be calling BS. Wish I had a vid.

Only 350HP? What a wimp! :nogrinner
You know that's not my point!!!!

A couple people have talked about the vette like it's indestructable. That the six would have no chance no matter what it did. I was pointing out that a base model corvette has 350hp. And with some FI a V6 Mustang can beat it.

And believe me, I'm not ripping that base vette, Not. One. Bit.:winks Cause it was kicking my ass:shigrin.

It's still a stretch for an NA V6 with a lot of bolt ons to run with a C5 Vette. Ltngdrvr posted that video of me running my uncles Vette at the track. Granted it's a Z06 model but keep in mind the Z06 only has 60 hp on the stock Touring models. My car is putting down about 420 hp at the wheels. A stock Z06 puts down 340-350 to the wheels and a stock Touring model puts down about 290-300 hp to the wheels. Difference is the Vette is 500 lbs lighter. So put 2 fat ass biatches in the front passenger seat of a C5 Touring Vette and it still would be a stretch for a bolt on V6 Mustang to run with just the driver to hang with the Vette let alone walk away from it.

Think about the phrase "walk away" and be honest with yourself. Well let me be honest with myself. My V6 with a Procharger would just barely qualify as being able to "walk away" from a C5 Vette. I own Mustang and I'm just being honest, I know I can beat a stock C5 Vette however I don't know that I'd beat it so bad that everyone would say I could walk away from one.

The C5 Vette is a car that I believe drew a line in the sand. It's when American car manufacturers said "screw this crap, we're targeting buyers in the market to buy a Ferarri or Lamborghini"

I love my Mustang, but insurance, gas mileage and "seats 4" aside I'd take a C5 or C6 any day of week over my Mustang when it comes to all out performance.

L454S - I'm going to grab a tissue and yank one off looking at your garage.:laughlitt

I cannot help but wonder about the possibility of a custom (one-owner only) twin-turbo/highly suspension-modded setup someone is playing with and just not going online to brag? It's not like every V6 Mustang owner known to man is posting on this forum (or any forum for that matter). We could simply have a rogue out there with a lot of curiosity and a ton of resources...or maybe just a SC'd 5.0 badged as a 6'er, to really rub it in on the unknowing? Either of these scenarios are perfectly feasible.

My money's on a 5.0 SC with V6 exterior bits for the sleeper effect.
