thinking about buying a 200 mustang or a 2000 camaro, im a ford guy having a hard time deciding wat to get? ive have heard the 4.6l is realy weak. i need some good reasons, like wich would be easier to work on?

I was thinking about getting me a mustang for my next sport. I want to spend 5-10k maybe more if it somthing i really like. Im not realy sure if i want to go 5.0 or 4.6. are the 4.6 a little weak, it seems like a lot of people are putting engine in there 4.6 at 100k or so. more hp the better. I like both body styles

thinking about getting a 4.6, are there any issues that i should know about? Like too much body flex, runing hot or ????

I am going on averages here.

Plain and simple LS1's tend to run low 13's as do Mach Ones and 99+ GT run 13.8's. Yes the DA and other factors can affect the timers, but lets be realistic here.

Weak, no, I'm sorry. The Camaro just has more displacement. The 4.6 is a good V8 for the $$$, not to mention with a few mods you can beat a Camaro and probably still pay less than buying a stock Camaro .

Yeah, go buy the Fireturd, or the Crapmaro......

I love laughing at them, broken on the side of the road....I should've kept a log of all the crap that broke, and how often.

(I used to be that guy...)

I recently ran an02SS camaro at n.e.dragway in oct.I ran a13.99to his 14.15.
the ss had an exhaust, ram air shifter and drag radials. My gt has bassani cat pipe mac catback c&lmeter, trueflow pipe,75mmt/b,trickflow plenum,b.f.g drag radials.not many mods on gt but i am sure i am still not pulling the h.p. of the camaro.in short the ss is a quick ride.if you take them out of the gate they will catch up(or try to)to a 2valve pretty quick.i also agree t.a. has better styling than a camoron, but bang for the buck u cant beat a stang!:eyebulge:

One thing we all have to keep in mind is the biggest mod of all. The "driver mod". The LS1 can run crap times if driven by someone who doesn't know how to drive, same with a GT or any other car. I am sure my 13.8 bone stock can be ran faster if by a better driver. I also have seen some 14 second 96-98 Cobras. Just like when I ran our 00 Z/28 to a 13.4 stock. I am sure some can run faster and slower.

Yes this is very true. A Ss running that time with those mods def cant drive. Heck i seen a bone stock 95 gt 5 speed, which should pull high 14's, low 15's stock run like a 16.5 at the track followed by a 15.9 and another 16.

LS1's respond very well to modifications. A friend of mine just put long tube headers, a cam, and a good tune and made 399 rwhp SAE. It depends on what you want.
