I am new to Mustang ownership and am having sever difficulty with this damned mach 460 system. The head unit (cassette) is powering up, and you can see that it is tuning, however, there is no output at all. I thought that the head unit was bad, so I yanked it out and tried a non-factory unit. There is no audio output on that either. All of the fuses in the panel under the driver side of the dash are good. Is there another fuse somewhere that is causing the amps to be DOA or am I crazy? I don't have a manual and it isn't even mentioned in the Haynes manual (waste of paper).
Please help...riding with the top down is cool...but not having tunes makes me want to drive the Taurus.

check your amp connections. Theres an amp behind the headunit and also on the back deck. Check the connections to make sure that everything is good. Could your harness be bad from the headunit to the car wires. Seems strange that all speakers would go out at the same exact time. Im thinking wires right after the unit are the culprit.
It was a fuse in the power distribution box under the hood (Thanks Flemworld). It has output now...but it sounds like crap. It is real tinny and has no bass. Any ideas? I'm thinking that whatever caused the fuse to pop (water from a leaking top, maybe) may have shorted one or both of the amps in the trunk. The reception sucks too. It is almost like it doesn't have an antenna connected.
You Need This

Your mach 460 has a built in shut off if you try to add anything to it. All of your amps will shut off. Thats why it sounds like there is no bass cause it is your amps that are shutoff..Get this adapter for your head unit.. It creates rca jacks for your stock cd player. I went through all this stuff a couple of months ago. You can get the adapter anywere for about 20 dollars. Set the bass high on your amp and low on this adapter and your stereo wont even know you are drawing anything off of it.
