No Speedo' Cable- Leaking Tranny Fluid?

869 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Chief2Horses
I noticed a build up a tranny fluid around the speedo connection.

I have removed the speedo due to the engine/tranny swap from 4cyl.

Is there some way to plug it or -remove that whole housing(backup light, speedo connection) from the side of the transmission.

Also-- Can you fill tranny from removing shifter, and pouring in tailshaft?

Put the speed sensor back in. It has a seal on it or if its in, change the seal. There isn't anything I've seen to plug it other than what's supposed to go there.

You need to fill/drain the trans with a pump if your not pulling the trans out. There is a plug in the side of the case. Fill it until you can just feel the fuild with your finger just below the bottom of the hole.
Thanks with speedo cable. Thats what i thought.

I use ramps, so level won't be true.

I was going to pull the fill plug, then lower car.

Sit in car w/ shifter removed and pour until fluid comes out.
That would work, it'd do the same thing.
So I can pour fluid down shifter.
