No start. Bad solenoid?

Hey fellas. Was driving the car the other day, turned it off and when I tried to restart it, got nothing. No crank, just dead. Brand new battery. Tried jumping it, to no avail. So I push started it, and got it home. Over the days, I tried starting it, and the most I got was one crank. I figured the starter? But I tapped the heck out of the solenoid this morning and it started right up, gave a little bit of a tiny grind, but started. So could it just be a junk solenoid?

Possibly, or a bad connection some where. The solenoid grounds to the inner fender. So if it is loose its a possiblilty of just a bad ground. Check all connections first.

Solenoid is cheap to replace anyways. Be a good idea for preventative maintenance.
