I recently installed some BMR lower control arms on my 14 gt. Now I am getting a metal on metal grinding sound.

I thought it might be the e brake hung up so I disconnected it from both sides and took it for a drive. No luck.

The sound doesn't change if I am braking or not.

Any ideas or anyone else have this problem?

Thanks for the help.

Which control arms did you replace? I'm guessing rear since you mentioned the e-brake.

It's gonna be tough for anyone to diagnose the problem over the internet.

I bet you didn't put the E-Brake retaining clip back on in the correct manner. Take a picture of where the cable meets caliper, and the clip, and we can help

Even with proper lubrication, I noticed a significant increase in noise after installing my BMR LCAs - TCA019. Can hear a metallic steel-on-steel-almost-"whirring" coming from the rear -- let me be clear, it's not a squeal but at times could be described as high pitch. Volume and pitch increase as I accelerate and decrease as I let off the gas. These characteristics are the same when in neutral (well obviously not the acceleration part. . . haven't quite figured out how to accelerate w/o being in gear yet). . .

You could always try throwing the stock parts back on to see if it resolves itself. I plan on doing that in the spring. It will also give me a chance to inspect the bushings. wrenchin.gif

Tis the problem with troubleshooting noises over the internet.

It could be:
Mechanical noise from normal operation
Mechanical noise from abnormal operation
Noises from loose parts
Noises from damaged parts
Noises from improperly installed parts
Noises from worn parts
Noises from bushings
Noises as a result of installing parts that transfer normal noises more than factory parts
Noises that always existed but the owner never paid attention to

Etc, etc, etc....

E break clip I did the same thing that etra 1/4 inch it's off it pulls on your ebrake. Dose it feel like your car is slow down as if it's breaking

Normal sound of the poly bushings. One reason ford went with the rubber ones is good NVH. Mine is noticable but not loud at all.
If you are hearing noises from your poly bushings then you should lubricate them. The little grease packets that come with the bushings aren't nearly enough.

Something like this and a grease gun will do the trick:

Did you follow the installation instructions? Just asking because some people ignore instructions. Anyway hopefully you greased the bearings before you installed them and orientated the LCA's the proper way in accordance with the instructions. Otherwise there will be noise and maybe some binding action.

i got a clicking sound after mine were installed. Almost sounds like a rock in the tire. I can only hear it under about 10 mph with my foot off the gas, otherwise the engine overpowers the sound. The noise gets slower with speed but not quieter. Im pretty sure is drivetrain related though and the suspension just makes it noticeable.

My BMR LCAs are a little noisy also, not loud by any means. It almost sound like slight static coming from my rear speakers.

Aftermarket LCA with Poly Bushings will definitely increase NVH.

The best thing to do is to ensure they are installed properly, lubricated with a quality synthetic lubricant, and ensure the bolts are torqued to atleast 129ftlbs.
