Not happy with Saleen's shipping

As many Mustang owners can understand, I work many hours, to afford such opulence as an American made muscle car.

I ordered Saleen's short shifter, paid for the shipping and FedEx won't deliver it to me. Saleen, without my knowledge, required a signature from a real person. Can't sign the chit and have them leave the $29 part on my doorstep.

Spoke to FedEx on the phone and it turns out, I work the hours, the driver is trying to reach me. Asked to possibly have him stay a little late to get it to me. Wee'll see if that works tomorrow. I sent an email to Saleen asking them to change the parameters of their shipping to allow the person who owns the box, the contents and paid for the shipping, to determine how it gets to him.

Weird world.

We only have about ten inches of snow on the ground, so there will be no Mustanging around, anyway, but it sure would be nice to fiddle with it, in the garage, while I can't drive it... once it gets here.

What I have done in the past with a different shipper is to leave a signed letter stating that I authorize "said company" to leave the shipment where stated and with my signature.

That company also said I could fill out a form that would authorize all future deliveries be left and a signature was not required. I didn't like that option.

Also, some companys will return the shipment to the shipper if they can’t deliver it after 2 attempts.

Good luck.

At least your short shifter adaptor has been shipped even if you cannot take deliver of it. That is more than I am getting out of them.

I ordered mine over two weeks ago. Got the payment confirmation from Saleen within 5 minutes via email. Emailed them twice with no answer. I finally called them yesterday and enquired about my order. After being on hold several times they told me that the part was on backorder, they were expecting shipment within a week, and my order should be filled within a week of that. Damn nice of them to at least let me know... Oh well, on the bright side the charge showed up on my credit card the very next morning. So they didn't have to wait for their payment.
I used to do the same i place a letter printed in red, with the following text, i used to live next to a gas station and i knew the guys that worked there so they sign for my packages,,

NOTICE TO (shipping company name here example UPS): Please leave the package from (example Saleen) next door “Texaco Gas Station”. If the package needs to be signed, I authorize you (My Full Name here) (signature here) ____________________, to drop the package at Texaco Gas Station.

Same experience for me, almost EXACTLY. Terrible customer response. Will not do business with Mr. Steve again...
Or you could pick it up at their distribution location if you tell them to leave it off the truck or go after the truck returns. I've done this countless times. I think most are open until 7pm.
I just have stuff deliverd to my office. Since it's a business they also get early delivery.
I had the same issue with my Jet TBS from Autoanything. I had to go to the Fed Ex distribution center to pick it up. Of course, had to wait until after the truck returned from the days deliveries. What a hassle.

I'll have to try the letter routine next time...
I bought a break light shut off switch from Saleen for my CDC Light Bar. There were no instructions with it. When I would call and they would realize I was not buying anything, they would quickly send me to the tech dept where I would be on hold and then get a voice mail. I NEVER got a call back from three messages and NEVER got a response to my Emails. How they stay in business is beyond me.
Saleen solution... [sorry] :)

Good idea. I can have future deliveries sent to the shop. We have a huge maintenance shop and I have coveted the covered area on rainy days. May park the Mustang in there, out of the way of forklifts and whatnot.

Saw a Jeep swap ends on the road, near my house this afternoon. Very entertaining. They have such a short wheelbase, they zip in the tiniest circle, in the snow. Not much for a turn radius, in 4x4 though. Obviously somone without much experience in the snow. My poor Mustang will not be happy arriving here in land of the White. When asked "when it will end?" people out here always tell about the times it snows on the fourth of July. What a magical fireworks display. For everyone but the guy with a new Mustang still in the @#$% garage!
