I have a 2002 3.8 Mustang. I am in the process of putting headers and getting the exhaust re done. was wondering the best was to either have the O2 sensors function and or bypass them. I got dual exhaust on it right now that will be running duals. i have the headers and new mufflers. the catalytic converters are gone. If i place resonators in what would be good and or should i at all. can i drill in a hole and tap it for an o2 sensor ? iI have looked all over on the net and i can not seem to find and set ways of bypassing or getting all of my codes cleared. Feel free to answer all or any i am curious the best way.

If you can't turn them off you have to install the back O2 sensors in the exhaust the same distance and depth as the original. Then attach the electronic to the O2 sensors that alters the reading to the ECU. Did you save the plug fitting from your old exhaust?

youll need to have those O2 sensor bungs welded into the pipe. it needs to take a reading of the exhaust gases so it can alter it.

I have an off road x.pipe with stock.headers the only thing i ran.into was my front two o2 senors had to be uncliped to reach the new downpipe from the headers. Also with my off road pipe i throw a service engine soon light because of having no cats and i have all my o2 sensors in the pipe all you need.are mil eliminators to keep your car from throwing.a code. And no place will turn o2 sensors off becuase of emissions even if your state doeant have those laws

You'll need some MIL eliminators like someone already mentioned. Also, if your O/R mid-pipe doesn't have bungs for the rear O2 sensors, you can just buy single bungs online and have them welded in for 50-60 bucks. This will make sure your CEL stays off and you'll be smooth sailing. Any exhaust shop will be able to weld the bungs in the correct general area. The sensors aren't too picky with the MIL eliminators!

Hope this helps!
