Where exactly is the sensor located. Is it right behind the cats? And what is its purpose? Does it just sense whether or not you have cats and they are working properly. Do they in any affect A/F mixture or anything else?

here's a pic of the KOOKS LT's but the stock system is about the same for location. and you're right they mesure A/F ratio. our cars have 4 02 sensors.

The front 2, pre-cat, adjust the A/F mixture thousands of times a second. The back two only measure catalyst efficiency by comparing voltages with the front 2. Disabling the back 2 has no effect on performance.

So on other threads I have seen that most custom tunes have the O2s disabled, it is the back 2 that are disabled not the front 2.

What would happen if the two rears were not disconnected?
