Obd II port is not powering my tuner..help please!

None of my friends has one but I need to try that because I just tried my tuner in a 2013 Hyundai and then a Toyota Camry. Same thing. No power. The idea of getting power from the USB port and not the car doesn't make any sense to me.

Do you know which pins should I test for power on the obd port itself?

I can do that and I thought about it but I am afraid of one thing. while flashing the ECM with the tune file, the car turns off and then back on at a certain point and that may put me in a worse situation. I might be wrong but didn't dare to risk it.

And it is also the idea of a $500 device that is not working the way it should.

What do you think?

Why not use power from the car to power it up. Even most OE comm boxes are powered up this way. It's done this way in case computer looses power so it doesn't blank ECM like when programming for most ECM's

Don't use the USB to power it up in the car. Double check all the fuses in the car. Does anything else in the car not work, like the cigarette lighter port? If they're all good, call SCT; they'll get it figured out. Hopefully they can just remote in to your computer and fix it that way.

I checked all fuses, car cig lighter is fine. I called them yesterday and they asked to check the voltage between pin 4 and 13. I did today and the voltmeter read 2.5v.

I am calling them today again for sure but it's always good to learn from people's experience.

If you tried the tuner in other cars and had no power in them then it seems obvious to me that the cable, or power pin in the plug on the cable, is bad or bent or some such issue.

Going to have to send it back to SCT for repair.

I sure wouldn't try tuning with it until the cable issue is fixed.

Me neither. I talked to SCT a few mins ago and they asked me to send it back to them.

Solid solution. Hope you got it fixed.

My tuner is finally working again. I tested all fuses, updated the device which was being power by the pc's usb normally and still not through the obd port. I test the obd port pins voltages. All came out fine. I finally tried to connect it to my friends' cars and the tuner also didn't work so it was now clear the tuner was the issue. I sent it back to sct and they change it for me. My car is re-tuned and feels awesome again.
