Hi all,

I am looking to find an OBD1 cable that I can use with my PC. I have been searching the web and I can't seem to find anything. Can anyone please provide me with a link. Also, if you can recommend any software I would appreciate it.

Welcome to AFM! Are you looking for something like this?

ALDL OBD1 OBD cable OBDI OBD2 engine codes

Do you not just have a tuner like an SCT or Diablo or something similar to work with? Thanks for joining and hopefully we can get you figured out.

Thanks for the reply Snackmaster,

I did see this cable unfortunately is seems to be for GM. No, I don't have one of those tuners. I have a friend who has a snap on and he can see all the diagnostics real time. I was hoping to find a PC based solution.

Gotcha. I'll keep my eyes peeled. Are you throwing any codes right now or are you just wanting to dig in and be able to diagnose future problems yourself? Autozone will check codes for free and if you don't want to invest in a full tuner... Harbor Freight Tools has cheaper models that read codes and a few other items. I know they have them for the OBDII setups but probably for 95 and previous OBDI as well. Just thinking out loud here. It sounds like you want to do more than what those devices would offer.

Cheers...

I am not throwing any codes now and I have a basic actron code scanner. I guess I am looking for more of a VCM type application that I can look at real time for tuning and general knowledge. I think Mongoose may make something that works with motorcraftservice.com but I think you have to subscribe and I am not sure how much that will cost. As I am only working on my car I don't want to spend an arm and a leg it would just be nice to have.

Thanks, I will stick around. I am enjoying working on my stang (only had her for a few months). Hopefully, I can contribute for other users in the future.
