I had a quick question. Everytime I go to a mechanic or just even bs'ing around with fellow car guys, I always get a "wtf" about my vin #. yeah, I know its a VIN number, but it has an X in it. I'm sure it don't mean squat, but does anyone know why they changed it over for the V or whatever it was on most of the 97's? I know one difference is the water pump pulley, but thats it. Just something I've been thinking about...lol
Since some people didn't read your sig, it does say SOHC. If you're referring to the 8th digit in your Vin # then X refers to a Windsor Sohc engine. Easy to verify by the valve cover bolts. You should have 13 bolts and a passenger side oil filler.
