My Odometer has stopped working along with my trip it stopped working at 161000 miles but i didnt own it then and dont know the accurate miles what are some suggestions on what to do about this?

There are actually a number of possibilities.

Since they both stopped working, we will not consider the odometer gear in the cluster that likes to break.

There may be an electronic problem in the Speedometer Cluster.

The wiring to the VSS sending unit could have a problem.

The VSS itself may have failed.

The gear on the tip of the VSS may have lost its teeth.

If you have a T-5 Manual transmission, the retainer clip may have failed that holds the internal gear in the correct spot to engage with the VSS.

I would start by pulling the VSS from the transmission, inspecting that gear, and feeling inside the transmission to be sure that the internal gear is in place to mesh with the VSS gear.

If that is good, try a different VSS. Beyond that... It would take a speedometer shop...

The VSS and the gears fail most of the time...
