The OEM style Recaros are really gorgeous and by all accounts, very comfortable and supportive. It's one option that makes me drool over the 2013+ cars.

So has anyone shelled out the cash for these seats? How did the install go? Do you think it was worth the investment? Are they significantly better at holding your corpse in the seat when hooning around corners?

I have the ford racing recaros in my 2012 and I would not swap them out for anything. They are super comfortable and supportive. Install is so easy just unbolt the 4 bolts that hold the seat into the floor and unplug the air bags from the bottom of the seats and the old ones come right out. Took me about 30 minutes to swap both seats out. Yea they are expensive but I am glad I made the change, I could not be happier.

I don't know if they are worth the almost $3000 for the pair. (at least that is what I'm telling myself)

I know its nice to have the heated seats and such in the winter, but prolly wouldn't need that option if the seats were cloth.

the premium leather i have on my 2011 GT is already showing signs of significant wear. Especially the driver seat side supports.. the leather has thin lines and tiny cracks all over it. I dont think Ford picked a quality leather for premium trim.. even the base leather trim looks more durable.
I will probably end up buying these.. but I was rather thinking of the 2013's leather recaro seats. Wonder if they are available as spare part.. =? hmmm.

I sat in a Recardo seat at my local Ford dealer this last Saturday...

My (56 yr. old / 6' / 240 lb, pick one) back and bottom are just too wide for the seat to be comfortable. Heck, my 22 yr. old daughter (110 lbs at 5' 5") said it felt too narrow for her, too.

Try 'em before you buy 'em.

Do you do any driving that requires you to wear a helmet? I have the base cloth seats and even though i have the adjustable headrests, i have to remove them because they get in the way of my helmet when i adjust my driving position for lapping on a road course. While i was waiting for my car on my last visit to the dealer, i sat in a Boss 302 and adjusted the seat in my usual track position and unfortunately the built-in headrest would not clear my helmet.... so as comfortable as they are for daily driving, i would not be able to find the proper position with a helmet on. I am 5'7" btw.

just so you know. You have to try them out first as they will not fit everyone. But they sure are very nice buckets

That money could be spent on performance stuff :) that's half a supercharger or cams and headers just throwing it out there. Could always go to katskinz get something custom and different

I'm 6-2 and "apparently" 254 if I believe the shipping scale at work...:hihi:

The seats start out narrow enough. I drove for about 10 hours back from the dealership when I bought mine and literally was riding a little "side saddle" by the time I got home!!!

However time and 254 lbs has flattened mine out enough (not noticeable if you look at it) that I'm very comfortable driving for several hours on end. I sat in a new one a few months ago and was surprised at how narrow it felt.

My only beef with the seat is it's not low enough. I COMPLETELY understand the lack of helmet space, especially since I have a roll bar with a diagonal to contend with. By the time I have my helmet on and the seat at a reclined and slid back position, it's almost straight arms on the wheel. Good thing I have long arms I guess. I rode in a GT500 with Corbeau seats of some sort at the Shelby Bash last year at Spring Mtn by Vegas and sat what felt like about 4" lower.

Awesome roll bar and harnesses from CoolTech.

These look like a better deal, if you don't mind loosing the side air bag.

The LG1 racing seat is a consumer favorite when it comes to comfort. The second you sit in this seat you will see why so many customers are ranting and raving about this seat. Its unique curves and contours re-define comfort. Whether on street, the track, or off-road, the LG1 racing seat will enhance your overall driving experience. As a rule of thumb, the LG1 will fit up to a 38-inch waist, while the LG1 Wide will fit up to a 42-inch waist. High wear patches are strategically placed to protect your seat from abuse in the high wear areas. The LG1 racing seat is available in Cloth, with leatherette high wear patches, Microsuede, with leather high wear patches, and 100% black Leather.

Cloth: $399.00
Cloth Wide: $479.00
Suede: $479.00
Suede Wide: $539.00
Black Leather: $625.00

I have the recaro seats and have done 4 track days with the car. I can say that the seats are awesome, even my mom who does not know anything about cars commented on the seats being really comfortable. With that being said I did notice the helmet hitting the back of the headrest when I was racing, I would agree that it is kind of close but it was not a big issue for me. And I'm not sure how the seats have been too narrow for people, I had my 6'1 250lbs friend sit in the car no problem. I think the guy who had his daughter sit in the car, she probably has never sat in a bucket seat before, so yes its not gong to feel like a regular seat that is big enough to fit the wide and wider of our general public.

Love my Recaro's. I had an evo 10 before the 'stang and it also had recaros, so it was a "must" when I ordered my car. They seem to be quite similar to the evo seats as well. But the seatbelt holes (for a racing harness) are better quality in the mustang.

If anything I think the seats are too wide! Although I'm not too fat at 5'11" 160#.

I don't know how much they cost from ford, but probably not worth it. Are you doing any racing/track days where you would really want a racing seat? If so, there are probably many more aftermarket seats (cobra, sparco, etc) that would hold you in better, and cost much less than the Ford Recaros. Like others said, you will loose your seat airbags.

$3k is retarded when the package from Ford in a new car is a fraction of that.

I'd really consider buying them if they were $2k, simply because of the airbags, but no way for 3...

I agree the price is too high. But for comparison, it cost me two grand to buy rusty old buckets, do most of the work myself, and completely restore my '64 Falcon convertible front bucket seats. The rusty seat cores were $600 shipped. I think the Ford seats would generate the most money for Ford at around a 800 dollar price. There's room for profit there I think.

I pulled my stock seats and got the Corbeau seats mentioned earlier. You sit alot lower than the OEM buckets and even the recaros. I 3M coated the cloth seats and am really happy with my choice. No side airbags though.

I wish there was an option to purchase the Recaros that come from the factory.

Meaning WITHOUT the "Ford Racing" logo, just the "Recaro"

Definitely need to be cheaper than the 3 grand too....
