Still waiting for the passenger side to be done. I got a letter today notifying me that TAKATA has filed for chapter 11, bankruptcy. It advised me to contact my dealer immediately to have the repair done. Did someone forget to mention to them that I did that last year. Anyone else get the letter?

I just got another letter about this. Parts are not available blah blah blah, Spring 2018. Then it says "in the meantime don't let anyone sit in the passenger seat". Really? seriously? WTF? I can't believe they would make such a statement. Are they going to give me a loaner until Spring? Anyone else get this letter (mine is a 2011 GT)

I am still in a holding pattern. My dealership doesn't have any driver side ones in stock, only passenger side, and I still have to get both Mustangs done. I am starting to get concerned due to Kona's age (built in December 2011) and our year round humid conditions here.

Sterling just turned 4 last week as a matter of fact (time flies) so he is getting into that window too.

Just a heads up -- check with your local dealer. Mine got in a few of the replacement passenger-side airbags. (Apparently a few are trickling out.) Got mine replaced this morning. FINALLY can feel a little safer with someone in the passenger seat again.

Well - scratch that! The dealer called this morning and said even though it fit, the inflator they installed had the wrong part number and they needed me to come back so they could re-install my old inflator until they could get the correct part number in. What a pain.

To be continued...

Finally after all these years.....

Sterling got his new airbag Friday morning, and Kona gets hers done first thing tomorrow morning. Strangely enough, Sterling got done first because they said its a different part for the 2014 vs the 2012, they had mine in stock first. That's news to me because our wheels minus a different set of buttons on the left are the same-but what do I know?

According to Ford site, it is only: (at least for now)

Vehicles recalled for passenger-side inflators
2005-13 Ford Mustang

I'm still waiting for the local dealer to get the parts in.
I had my 2013 in a couple months ago for the drivers side airbag and asked when the passenger side would get done and the service manager looked it up and said there is no recall for mine. So either he doesn't know what he is talking about or possibly some need replaced and some do not. Maybe depending on when the car was built? Like late in the year are good?

To those who have had the passenger side airbag replaced: does the entire dash need to be removed or do they change out the airbag through the glove compartment? How long did it take at the dealer? I have a 2013 Mustang GT 5.0.

Clearly, though, some people in non-humid states have been getting replacement airbags faster before any postcard has been sent, so I wonder how everything is being rolled out. Seems rather disorganized to me.
I'll try calling the dealer I contacted earlier this week sometime next week. They said they expected an update late this week or early next week and asked me to call them back.

I got this today.

Got the passenger side air bag inflator recall in the mail today. Drove down to my local Ford dealer, they had the part and replaced it. Took 45 minutes and I'm finished with all of the air bag inflator recalls. I hope :)

Unless they find that the replacements are flawed too
