So I just received my FL-820S oil filter today and it looks like this. -->.
Liquid Fluid Paint Plastic bottle Bottle

And normally they look like this --> .
Liquid Fluid Paint Cylinder Gas

Is the one I received just the older style label or is it a scam?

Thanks Jonathan

I have no way of knowing that. Where did you purchase the filter? Call a Ford parts department and ask if this is a legitimate label.

Look like you got one labelled in another language, French???. Don't forget that they cater to a larger audience than the "King's English" speaking folks.

Where did you buy it from?
The only difference from the English only filter is that the part is also described in French and Spanish, which are the other official languages of Canada and the US respectively.

I bought this filter on amazon when it was on sale for 3.99. I made sure it came from amazon and not another person trying to sell it on their site.

no way to tell what is inside; but it looks like simple multi-lingual label to me, as already suggested . . . I don't remember what mine looked like, last time I bought one of those, but I guess that is the answer you are looking for (someone to confirm that they got one with the multi-lingual label and it was legit)

Question anything you buy from Amazon "Vendors". Some are legit, many are not. Good video on counterfeit Motorcraft stuff.

those are some pretty legitimate-looking counterfeit boxes, so I guess anything is possible

Maybe you got a Canadian one but the Chinese counterfeits are getting better. Probably the easiest thing to do if you have both is taking them out of the box and look in the filter to see if everything matches up - number of drain holes, color of element, valve etc. Also look on the box for any typos although if it is French you might not know unless you speak and read the language.
