i have a 96gt and the check engine light comes on and then the low oil light comes on

after adding a quart its fine for awhile then it does it again

i then noticed the oil was in the coolant it floats to the top of the reservoir
my dad replaced the oil cooler gasket and that didnt fix it

we would have replaced the O rings but the dealer ship didn't have them
im going there today to order all O rings that have to do with the oil cooler

he also said something about he didnt put sealer on some threads

is this a common problem should this take care of it
anything else were missing...tips

thanks

Sounds like a blown head gasket.

If you have an engine oil cooler that is cooled by water, I'd check that first. Make sure the cooler you are talking about isn't your transmission cooler (didn't notice if you have an auto or manual) If you don't have an engine oil cooler, then I'll second the head gasket issue.

Yeah, that does sound like a head gasket issue to me.

update

we took the oil cooler to the shop and pressure tested it and the oil cooler is the problem
we tried to take the oil cooler apart but were unable to get it apart

i bought a new cooler from ford

the car is a 96 GT auto i searched the internet but could only find cobra oil coolers which has a different outlet for the coolant

if anyone else have this problem pressure test your oil cooler
