I drive a 2007 Stang with mods. I see other 2005 and newer Mustangs on the road and I give them a nod or a finger (index, not middle), just to say, "hey, fellow mustang". Most times the only ones that give a reply are other Mustang enthusiasts that have their Stang modified to a certain extent.

I give a "hello" to older Mustangs GT's as well, when I see them.

Is there a reason why some Mustang owners do not give a reply? I know Harley Davidson guys that give a certain type of wave to other Harley riders. I was hoping that the Mustang community could do the same, but I'm wondering if that's the case.

Any thoughts? :?:

Same thing happens to me all the time.

I've found that the people who wave back are usually women driving sixers (not hating on the V6, that's what I own).

For the most part, the only people that wave back to me are people who have the same color as mine (Legend Lime, so it's pretty rare), have modded theirs, are the same age as me, or drive older Mustangs. Otherwise, I'm ignored completely.

I've realized that a lot of people that drive a stang drive them just because it's a car. I like my stang because it is a Mustang and I like the car. Not everybody is as in to our cars as we are. Usually those who mod them as much as us know a little bit more about the car and we like them more.

That's what I figure as well. If you're going to get a car that you don't care about, drive a Honda or something.

If you don't care about your car, you sure as hell don't care about mine, and you drive accordingly. The idiots are always in cookie-cutter cars. I've found that for the most part, the fast and/or expensive car drivers handle themselves very, very well on the road.

100% correct

This statement could not be more true. When I first got my stang, I would flash my lights at stangs if they were coming the other way, usually I get no flash back. If a stang pulls up next to me, 9 out of 10 times we just look at each other and say nice ride - the only waving I do is out the window when I blow past people.;)

My (Opinion) on your thoughts.
You can continue to try to be Friendly with All the Mustang Owners you see. But I think you will continue to get the same response.
The more Modified the Mustang is, the more likely that owner is really into his or her Mustang.
So, stick with the Mustangs that really stand out and I think you will find they are Friendly and the rest just Skip.

If you see a Mustang anything remotely like this the owner will more than likely be very outgoing and talk Mods for awhile. :bigthumbsup

I always thought a (wave) at fellow Mustang owners was the proper thing to do. I do get a wave once in awhile but most of the time the other Mustang driver is more worried if he can beat me than being friendly.
But this last weekend there was a Antique Car Show going on at the Lake and I saw a-lot of Mustang owners driving by and they all waved at fellow Stang Owners, so I guess the wave is the thing to do. I wish I could have been there to check out the Cars but I was in a 2 Day Walleye Tournament the (AMARA-CAN) on Lake Erie. I had more FUN Fishing but the Car Show would have been nice to see:bigthumbsup

NICE RIDE! I appreciate the thoughts; I've had my car for almost a year, and EVERY time I turn the key and I hear the rumble of the V8, and put my hand on the cue ball shifter it makes me smile.

I guess that's why I'm so willing to say "hi" to other Mustang owners; I'm proud of my black beauty and I "assume" that other's are proud of their Stang's as well. :kooky:

Generally I dont wave at them 1st but I always return one. If some one really stands out I'll wave 1st. Last time i got a wave I was leap frogging a red and black 197 vert up and down the high way until they turned off and waved good bye. They were cutie's in a V6 as a matter of fact:shigrin

That's cool; I tell ya, I'm not a young guy, but I'm not an old guy either (whatever the definition of old may be) and it's tough sometimes when the young ladies yell out, "I love your car". Sometimes I want to yell something back but I have to hold back (I wouldn't be yelling anything derogatory). ;)

Saying "hi" around here isn't very easy since most people have tinted windows and it's hard to see inside. Besides, I'm usually too busy trying to avoid the cell phone morons weaving into my lane to notice someone trying to be friendly.

saw you on youtube man, wanna trade bullitt's? i'm sure u'd prefer a stock one over yours lol:kooky:

I'm weird about eying people while i'm driving, around here they tend to get the wrong idea and go into NASCAR mode, which i can't help but follow and then be the one who gets the fat ticket. but when i get a wave or a honk i definitely give one back

The other thing to remember is most of the people who originally got these cars when the style came out were connoisseurs. Now that they're 6 years old there are a lot of them that have lost a lot of value and there are less connoisseurs driving them. It's a simple fact of auto-evolution. Now I am one who had to wait for the value to drop to get one but I like to think of myself as a connoisseur as I've always wanted a mustang, long before I was even able to drive. Just appreciate those who do love them and are respectful enough to share a wave with others.:wavey
