Thermostat or waterpump. But I would change the thermostat first....
P1285 Cylinder head overtemp

I was driving my car today and the AC all of sudden stopped working. It has been kicking on and off the past couple of days. The fan is still blowing but, no cold air is coming out. It seemed to stop working mostly when I was stopped.
As I was pulling into a gas station I noticed my CEL was on. I was driving home to check the code with my tuner and I saw my temp gauge going way higher than normal. Normally it is in the middle, but it was inching toward the higher end. I got it home shortly after and checked the light. It is a "P1285 Cylinder head overtemperature (cht) condition."
My dad says it probably a bad thermostat that is not opening up. What do you guys think?
PS it is rather hot today, pushing 100*F here.
