Paint rear calipers

1270 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Charlie S.
My 2013 GT with track package has Brembos on the front and I assume regular factory calipers on the rear. The fronts have some sort of gray finish with "brembo" in red lettering. I was thinking of painting the rear calipers as they appear to just be bare metal. Has anybody out there tried this and do you have suggestions on type of paint to use, etc??

So what I would recommend, albeit this won't be the cheapest route, it will probably be the best route in terms of chemical resistance to brake fluid...would be to paint the caliper with Mastercoat silver rust sealer...costs about $40/quart. With two coats of that, the caliper won't rust, and won't have problems with brake fluid. Then, if you want it to take a regular cast metal color (the silver will leave it looking aluminum), you can spray paint it with a rebuilder's cast spray paint, such as something by Duplicolor, and it's a spray paint that looks pretty darn identical to bare cast metal. Alternatively, if you were to mix a little bit of black into the silver, it will look more like a cast finish instead of an aluminum finish and you could just leave it like that.

Look up G2 caliper paint. Comes with everything you need in a kit. Very simple and easy. I have used it a few times.
I ended up using a duplicolor kit. Came with everything needed and cost was $19.99. Didn't go with the G2 because it cost twice as much and I didn't need to do the fronts. I disassembled the calipers, cleaned and put 4 coats on. They came out really well. Tried to attach pics but files were too big?
